Electronics guide > Digital integrated circuits I > Other logic circuits
Other logic circuitsThe inverter is the first example of a type of digital circuit that’s normally
called a gate. Other logic gates are, in fact, based on the inverter and are made
up from adaptations of it. There are a handful of logic gates that make up all digital
circuits, from simple switches through to complex computers.
Other logic gates we need to know about are covered over the next few pages.
They are all based on the principles of digital logic we’ve already looked at, though.
However, before we discuss them, it’s important for us to see that they’re all based
on a particular form of logic, which is essentially mathematical, known as Boolean
algebra.
